Mark V. recently posted 2 questions about using SSL certificates in MS4W:

and
https://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/geomoose-users/2018-March/006367.html
In the second link (asked on the Geomoose list) he is specifically trying to extend SSL to the MS4W apps he has installed, and running into configuration issues.
This seems like a topic where documentation could be improved.
