- for MapServer 8.0, old syntax tricks (such as COLOR inside a CLASS object) will cause a hard error (should be instead a STYLE object, with a COLOR inside the STYLE object, all within the CLASS)
- for the distributed local.map, the "places" layer needs a STYLE object
